Maheswari sarees have been woven in the town of Maheshwar on the banks of the Narmada river for over 250 years. Commissioned by the Holkar queen Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century, this weave is known for its distinctive striped border, reversible pattern, and the unique chatai (mat) weave structure. Each saree takes a master weaver 3–5 days to complete. It is one of India's few GI-tagged handloom traditions — meaning only sarees made in Maheshwar by traditional methods can carry this name.

Dry clean only — do not hand wash or machine wash. Store folded in muslin cloth, not plastic. Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods. For zari care: do not rub the zari border. Light ironing on silk setting, inside out, with a thin cloth between the iron and saree.
